Zion Via Lenz #1.1

“Our world is one of terrible contradictions. Plenty of food, but one billion people go hungry. Lavish lifestyles for a few, but poverty for too many others. Huge advances in medicine while mothers die every day in childbirth, and children die every day from drinking dirty water. Billions spent on weapons to kill people instead of keeping them safe.”   –Ban Ki-moon

This photo was taken during a photowalk in Kolkata few years back. I really love the smile of the kid and can feel the pain deep inside. I spent sometime with the kid and even today I can recall the entire episode, its still there in my memory. This was his first photograph as he told me and that’s why  I took a print out of this photograph to gift him but I didn’t find him when I get back to the same place again. He was a child labor then and may be he was shifted to somewhere else that’s why I couldn’t trace him. Where ever he is now, I pray, he showers with all the happiness of life.
